EX Gardiens du Pouvoir / #9/108
Printed language: French · Pokémon
CARDEX BACKGROUND
Gardevoir can sense danger before it becomes visible. The Pokédex credits it with seeing the future and links this ability to protecting a Trainer to whom it is attached. Its power reaches its peak when it tries to defend them. This bond gives its abilities a purpose: foresee a threat, then respond on someone else's behalf, even at the risk of its own life.
Background on the species in the video games; its forms and card versions may have appeared later. To defend its Trainer, Gardevoir can expend its mental power to the point of creating a small black hole, according to Pokémon Shield. This detail shows the scale of the risk it accepts to protect someone. The Pokédex presents this as an exceptional ability; it should not be confused with the attacks printed on all of its cards.
Quoted source text is retained in the card’s printed language so this exact printing can be identified. The CarDex background above is translated into English.
