CARDEX BACKGROUND
The Pokémon’s story
Gallade quickly senses when someone is in danger and rushes to their aid. It can read an opponent's thoughts, then defend itself with the blades formed by its elbows. The Pokédex emphasizes its restraint: it uses these weapons only when it must protect something. Its courtesy contrasts with the effectiveness of its swordsmanship. This fighter does not seek confrontation for its own sake; its vigilance seems primarily directed toward others.
Background on the species in the video games; its forms and card versions may have appeared later.A detail worth noticing
Pokémon Sword calls Gallade a swordsman and notes that it reserves its blades for defense. Pokémon Shield describes its senses being alerted by a person in danger. Its skill at striking first is thus framed by protective behavior.
