CARDEX BACKGROUND

The Pokémon’s story

Cobalion holds a leader’s place in a Unovan legend. Alongside Terrakion and Virizion, it is said to have faced humans to defend Pokémon in danger. Entries credit it with a body and will of iron, but also a calm temperament. Even an aggressive opponent is said to retreat before it. The story of its protection therefore combines power with restraint: the legend shows it standing against humans alongside two other protectors of Unova’s Pokémon.

A detail worth noticing

Pokémon Sword explicitly names Terrakion and Virizion as Cobalion’s companions in the Unovan legend. Pokémon Shield adds that it has a leader’s bearing from birth. These two entries explain its distinctive position among the three protectors.
