CARDEX BACKGROUND

The story behind this Trainer card

Root Fossil is played as a Basic Pokémon and counts in play as both a Colorless Pokémon and a Trainer. With no attack of its own, it can neither retreat nor be affected by Special Conditions. If Knocked Out, it is discarded without counting as a Knocked Out Pokémon. You may also discard it during your turn before attacking.

Background on this Trainer card’s printed effect; its edition, language and finish remain distinct.

A detail worth noticing

Voluntary removal provides an exit distinct from the forbidden retreat. It must occur during your turn before attacking and sends Root Fossil to the discard pile rather than returning it to your hand.

Printed card effect
