CARDEX BACKGROUND

The Pokémon’s story

Hoppip is so light that a simple breeze could carry it away. It therefore grips the ground when it wants to stay put, then lets the wind carry it to travel. If an overly strong gust approaches, several Hoppip link their leaves together to avoid being scattered. The Pokédex says their presence in large numbers across fields and mountains heralds spring.

Background on the species in the video games; its forms and card versions may have appeared later.

A detail worth noticing

Pokémon Omega Ruby describes Hoppip linking their leaves before a gust. Pokémon Black associates their collective appearance with spring. Their group therefore helps them face dangerous wind and also becomes a sign of the changing season.
