CARDEX BACKGROUND
The Pokémon’s story
Blastoise carries two water cannons that emerge from its shell. It can aim its shots accurately enough to hit a target more than fifty metres away. The pressure is so great that some jets pierce metal. Yet its shell is more than a support for weapons: it can retreat inside when it feels threatened. The Pokédex thus brings solid defence and long-range attack together in the same massive silhouette.

To stop an opponent, Blastoise can also use its own weight. Pokémon X explains that it crushes them to make them lose consciousness. This action contrasts with its famous water shots: at close range, the Pokémon does not need its cannons to impose its power.
