CARDEX BACKGROUND

The Pokémon’s story

Darmanitan maintains an intense flame inside its body, the source of strength capable of smashing massive objects with its fists. The hotter the fire, the greater its power. Yet if a battle goes badly or it is injured, it can take the opposite approach: it becomes still as a rock and focuses its mind. The Pokédex thus associates this species with both fiery momentum and deliberate stillness, two different responses to the pressure of a confrontation.

Background on the species in the video games; its forms and card versions may have appeared later.

A detail worth noticing

Pokémon Shield says Darmanitan's internal flame can exceed 1,400°C. Pokémon White describes its opposite response when it loses the advantage: it stays motionless and fights through mental power. Its strength is therefore not limited to its fists.
