CARDEX BACKGROUND

The Pokémon’s story

Throh readily trains with others of its kind, sometimes in groups of five. Those who can no longer keep up remove their belts and withdraw. It likes throwing opponents larger than itself; its progress may lead it to change belts. Wild individuals weave theirs from vines. The Pokédex therefore makes this accessory a visible sign of training, strength, and position within the group.

Background on the species in the video games; its forms and card versions may have appeared later.

A detail worth noticing

Pokémon Shield describes groups of five Throh training and those who give up removing their belts. Omega Ruby explains that wild individuals weave theirs from vines. Alpha Sapphire associates a change of belt with progress.
