CARDEX BACKGROUND

The Pokémon’s story

Growlithe combines two attitudes that make more sense together. It can be friendly towards humans it has grown accustomed to, while vigorously defending its territory. Its barking marks this boundary between familiarity and intrusion. The welcoming companion and watchful guardian are the same Pokémon, whose trust develops through the regular presence of those around it.

Background on the species in the video games; its forms and card versions may have appeared later.

A detail worth noticing

The closeness between Growlithe and humans is thought to go back a very long way. Pokémon Ultra Moon reports the discovery of its bones in Stone Age remains. This antiquity gives the familiar companion another dimension: their shared history predates everyday encounters.
