CARDEX BACKGROUND

The Pokémon’s story

Kakuna remains attached to a tree and hides beneath leaves while its body prepares to evolve. Its motionless silhouette is deceptive: the warmth of its shell reveals intense internal activity. Unable to flee on its own, it hardens its covering against predators. If pushed too far, a stinger can still poison an attacker. The Pokédex thus describes a period of transformation in which waiting means neither sleeping nor abandoning self-defence.

A detail worth noticing

Pokémon Omega Ruby states that Kakuna’s shell feels warm to the touch even though it remains almost motionless. Pokémon: Let’s Go, Pikachu! retains its defensive stinger. Its transformation therefore takes place beneath a covering that protects an active body.
