CARDEX BACKGROUND

The Pokémon’s story

Stunfisk hides in mud or sediment and waits for prey to approach. Its body derives an unexpected ability from this habitat: an organ produces electricity using bacteria in the mud. It can then paralyse what it catches with a discharge. Its skin is tough enough to withstand great pressure without apparent pain. The Pokédex describes a patient hunter that turns wet ground into camouflage, protection and even an energy source.

Background on the species in the video games; its forms and card versions may have appeared later.

A detail worth noticing

The yellow parts of Stunfisk’s body send out a discharge, after which it seems to smile. Pokémon Shield notes this behaviour without explaining why. This smile therefore remains a curious observation, while its electric organ is linked to bacteria in the mud.
