CARDEX BACKGROUND

The Pokémon’s story

Toxel has an internal sac in which toxic substances accumulate. Its skin secretes them, which can give a shock to anyone who touches it. The Pokédex also describes the chemical process through which it transforms poison into electricity. The resulting current remains weak, but can numb an enemy. At this stage of its life, contact with its skin is therefore enough to reveal the link between its two resources: the poison it stores and the electricity it releases.

Background on the species in the video games; its forms and card versions may have appeared later.

A detail worth noticing

Toxel’s current is not described as very intense. Pokémon Shield nevertheless explains that it can numb an opponent. Pokémon Sword warns that simple contact with its skin can give an electric shock: toxins stored in its internal sac reach the surface.
