CARDEX BACKGROUND

The Pokémon’s story

A solitary Wishiwashi appears fragile and attracts predators. When danger approaches, its eyes become wet and bright; this signal calls to its own kind. Together, they form a school able to stand up to enemies. The Pokédex notes that an individual can nevertheless swim alone and that the group mainly assembles to compensate for its weakness. Its defense thus depends on other Wishiwashi: the glimmer of its eyes turns an individual warning into a collective response.

Background on the species in the video games; its forms and card versions may have appeared later.

A detail worth noticing

The light from Wishiwashi's eyes is not visible only at close range. Pokémon Ultra Moon says its call can be seen forty kilometers away. Pokémon Shield also describes its sparkling tears as a gathering signal when danger approaches.
