CARDEX BACKGROUND

The Pokémon’s story

Bewear stands up and spreads its arms wide to warn an intruder to keep away. Its strength lets it restrain large prey, but also makes affectionate gestures dangerous. After a victory, it sometimes wants to hug its Trainer so tightly that they risk injury. The Pokédex shows a Pokémon that recognizes and cares for its companions without always appreciating the effect of its power on a more fragile body.

Background on the species in the video games; its forms and card versions may have appeared later.

A detail worth noticing

Pokémon Moon describes Bewear's post-battle hugs as a danger to its Trainer's back. Pokémon Shield adds that its embraces can crush bones. Its affection is therefore real, but some distance remains necessary when being reunited.
