CARDEX BACKGROUND

The Pokémon’s story

Spoink constantly bounces on its spring-shaped tail. Each landing makes its heart beat, so stopping for too long would endanger its life. A pearl on its head strengthens its psychic powers; it sometimes seeks a larger one. The Pokédex thus brings together two essential activities: the bouncing that keeps its body active and the search for an object capable of amplifying what it can achieve.

Background on the species in the video games; its forms and card versions may have appeared later.

A detail worth noticing

Pokémon Omega Ruby directly links Spoink's bouncing to its heartbeat. Pokémon Alpha Sapphire explains that its pearl amplifies its powers and that it seeks a better one. Its incessant movement therefore meets a vital need, while its collecting follows a different ambition.
