CARDEX BACKGROUND

The Pokémon’s story

Carracosta moves both in water and on dry land, although it walks more slowly there. It may leave the sea to seek prey, then drag it underwater. Its jaws break strong shells; once it secures its catch, it leaves neither bone nor shell. The Pokédex connects this diet with the thickness of its own shell. Its apparent slowness on shore therefore says nothing about the strength it deploys when feeding.

Background on the species in the video games; its forms and card versions may have appeared later.

A detail worth noticing

Pokémon Ultra Sun describes jaws capable of swallowing Omanyte or Omastar with their shells. Pokémon Shield states that Carracosta nevertheless leaves the water to hunt, even though its movement on land is slower.
