CARDEX BACKGROUND

The Pokémon’s story

Camerupt lives in volcanic craters and carries two humps on its back capable of ejecting magma. The Pokédex describes them as structures formed after its bones changed shape. They sometimes erupt at long intervals, but the Pokémon’s anger can also trigger a sudden discharge. As magma rises, its body shudders before the explosion. Its silhouette therefore signals danger depending as much on anatomy as on mood.

Background on the species in the video games; its forms and card versions may have appeared later.

A detail worth noticing

Pokémon X mentions Camerupt’s humps erupting every ten years, or sooner when it becomes angry. Pokémon Alpha Sapphire links their formation to a change in its bones. These back-mounted volcanoes are therefore presented as part of its body, not a mere backdrop.
