The Pokémon’s story

Salazzle lives deep in caverns, surrounded by male Salandit attracted by the pheromones in its gas. This species consists entirely of females, which are served by their admirers. The Salandit go hunting and may be punished if they return without food. Between two Salazzle, the Pokédex even describes rivalry settled by the size of their followings. Their underground life thus resembles a small court where chemical influence determines alliances and rank.

A detail worth noticing

Pokémon Shield reports that a dispute between two Salazzle is said to be settled by counting the Salandit following each of them. Pokémon Moon mentions another consequence of their pheromones: these can be isolated from the toxic gas to make a powerful perfume.
