CARDEX BACKGROUND
The Pokémon’s story
Bastiodon carries a bony shield on its face capable of repelling almost any frontal attack. The downside is clear: its rear remains vulnerable. This docile Pokémon eats grass and Berries despite an intimidating appearance. Fossils sometimes show it entangled with Rampardos after a battle in which both supposedly fell together. The Pokédex presents a prehistoric animal built to stand its ground but obliged to protect its flanks.
Background on the species in the video games; its forms and card versions may have appeared later.A detail worth noticing
Pokémon Ultra Sun explains that Bastiodon's large facial bones were initially mistaken for its spine during reconstructions. Pokémon Sun emphasizes its weakness from behind. Discovering its anatomy therefore changed the understanding of its defense.
