CARDEX BACKGROUND

The Pokémon’s story

Chien-Pao is said to have been born from ancient hatred left by people killed by a sword. This emotion supposedly wrapped itself in snow to take shape. The Pokédex credits it with control over a hundred tons of fallen snow. It can cause avalanches and then leap innocently through the masses it has set in motion. Its apparent play contrasts with the violence attributed to its origin. Legend explains its birth; the snow it manipulates describes the very present danger around it.

Background on the species in the video games; its forms and card versions may have appeared later.

A detail worth noticing

Pokémon Scarlet puts the snow Chien-Pao can move at a hundred tons and shows it playing in its own avalanches. Pokémon Violet tells of a darker origin: the hatred of people killed long ago by a sword supposedly took form in the snow.
