CARDEX BACKGROUND

The Pokémon’s story

Pichu carries small electrical sacs in its cheeks. It does not yet control their charge perfectly: strong emotion or surprise can cause an involuntary discharge. When too much electricity accumulates, it may even shock itself. Yet its size should not deceive, because it can also electrify an adult, surprising itself in the process. The Pokédex thus describes power that is already real but still difficult for this young Pokémon to master.

Background on the species in the video games; its forms and card versions may have appeared later.

A detail worth noticing

Pokémon Shield specifies that an overload can turn Pichu's electricity against itself. Ultra Sun states that strong emotions sometimes trigger an unexpected discharge. Pokémon Sword adds that it can shock a grown person, which surprises Pichu itself.
