The Pokémon’s story

Durant digs maze-like tunnels in mountains and places its Eggs deep inside the nest. Its colony gathers to repel Heatmor, its predator, while its mandibles can crush rock. The Pokédex also mentions clashes with Sandaconda over protecting its young. Its iron armour and the number of its companions are more than passive defences: they shape an organised collective life underground.

A detail worth noticing

Pokémon Shield explains that Durant can break rocks into pieces with its jaws, then fights alongside its colony to protect its Eggs from Sandaconda. Pokémon Sword places these Eggs deep inside the nest, far from the exposed entrance.
