CARDEX BACKGROUND

The Pokémon’s story

Glalie instantly freezes moisture in the air. It can cover itself with this ice like a shell to reinforce its body or immobilize prey before biting into it. The Pokédex shows a particular fondness for already-frozen Pokémon. Even exposed to fire, its icy body is described as unable to melt. Its power therefore comes from more than the cold it carries: it also turns surrounding water into protection and traps.

Background on the species in the video games; its forms and card versions may have appeared later.

A detail worth noticing

Pokémon Ultra Moon explains that Glalie makes armor by freezing water in the air. Pokémon Sword notes that its own body does not melt in fire. These entries distinguish the ice forming its body from the ice it adds for defense.
