The Pokémon’s story

Spewpa stays hidden beneath bushes to avoid attracting predators. Its body is hard enough to withstand even sharp beaks. If an enemy pursues it, it raises its hair to look more threatening and can spit defensive powder. The Pokédex describes a small creature compensating for its immobility with successive barriers: concealment, a tough casing and a last-moment response.

A detail worth noticing

Pokémon Y states that bird Pokémon's beaks do not easily pierce Spewpa's body. Pokémon X adds that it bristles its hair when pursued. Its first defense nevertheless remains hiding beneath bushes.
