CARDEX BACKGROUND

The Pokémon’s story

Palossand takes the form of a sandcastle on the beach, although it tolerates water poorly and loses its shape in heavy rain. It commands the grains of its body and raises sandstorms to immobilize victims. Pokédex accounts say it then absorbs their life energy; bones have been found beneath its towers. This unsettling presence has earned it the nickname of the beach nightmare.

Background on the species in the video games; its forms and card versions may have appeared later.

A detail worth noticing

Pokémon Shield highlights Palossand's paradox: it lives on beaches but falls apart in the rain. Pokémon Ultra Sun credits each grain of its sand with a will of its own. Its castle shape therefore depends on an active and fragile assembly.
