CARDEX BACKGROUND

The Pokémon’s story

Two Binacle share a seaside rock. They must coordinate movements to lift their home and advance. At high tide, cooperation also lets them catch prey; they eat seaweed washed onto shore. Yet a quarrel can break the pair: one then leaves the stone to seek a new home. The Pokédex makes cooperation a condition of both defense and meals.

A detail worth noticing

Pokémon X describes two Binacle living on one stone until a quarrel separates them. Pokémon Shield notes that their two arms must work together to survive. A dispute therefore has practical consequences for their home's mobility and defense.
