CARDEX BACKGROUND

The Pokémon’s story

After sufficient training, Kubfu evolves into Urshifu and follows one of two styles. In Single Strike Style, it keeps its distance before rushing at an opponent to deliver a decisive blow. Rapid Strike Style favours calm, observation and a succession of flowing strikes. These methods do not describe two species: they are two possible paths for the same Pokémon. The name printed on each card indicates which one it represents.

Background on the species in the video games; its forms and card versions may have appeared later.

A detail worth noticing

The official Sword and Shield website explains that Urshifu’s chosen style depends on decisions made during the adventure, rather than the game version. The two styles have distinct types and moves, even though Kubfu is their shared starting point.
