CARDEX BACKGROUND

The Pokémon’s story

Simisage gives an opponent little respite. Aggressive by nature, it swings its spike-covered tail to strike enemies. The leaf growing on its head offers an unexpected contrast to this fighting style: it is very bitter. Pokédex entries thus describe two traits easily mistaken for mere ornaments, but one serves directly in attacks while the other reveals a very different property.

Background on the species in the video games; its forms and card versions may have appeared later.

A detail worth noticing

Simisage's leaf is not described as sweet or edible: the Pokémon Black Pokédex calls it very bitter. That entry and Pokémon White's instead emphasize its spiny tail and violent temperament in battle.
