CARDEX BACKGROUND

The Pokémon’s story

Nincada sometimes spends more than ten years buried underground. In the darkness, its eyesight has become very weak; it navigates with its antennae and digs near roots with its claws. It draws the moisture and nutrients it needs from these roots. Sunlight is difficult for it to tolerate. The Pokédex thus describes an almost entirely underground life, consisting of long waits and precise actions to find sustenance before evolving.

Background on the species in the video games; its forms and card versions may have appeared later.

A detail worth noticing

Pokémon Shield gives Nincada's underground life a possible duration of more than ten years. Pokémon Sword explains its poor eyesight and the role of its antennae. Alpha Sapphire details its search for moisture and nutrients in roots.
