CARDEX BACKGROUND

The Pokémon’s story

Lickitung explores unfamiliar things with its tongue. Objects’ tastes and textures feed its memory, though it dislikes sour flavours. Its two-metre tongue is more agile than its feet and also helps paralyse prey, particularly Bug-type Pokémon. This contact is not harmless to humans: its saliva can cause irritation if left on the skin. A seemingly curious gesture is therefore exploration, hunting and defence at once.

Background on the species in the video games; its forms and card versions may have appeared later.

A detail worth noticing

Pokémon Omega Ruby explains that Lickitung’s memory depends on taste and texture. Pokémon Sword warns that saliva left on skin causes severe itching. The tongue that lets it recognise its environment therefore also calls for caution when it approaches someone.
