CARDEX BACKGROUND

The Pokémon’s story

Clamperl's shell serves as shelter but also as a trap. It closes around prey and holds it firmly despite its small size. Marks and scratches accumulated on an adult shell tell the story of this hunting life. As its body grows, the shelter eventually becomes too small: this signals that evolution is approaching. Once in its life, Clamperl can also produce a remarkable pearl whose value greatly exceeds that of many ordinary pearls.

Background on the species in the video games; its forms and card versions may have appeared later.

A detail worth noticing

Alpha Sapphire gives a precise clue to Clamperl's evolution: its body no longer fits inside its shell. Pokémon Ultra Moon states that its pearls can cost more than ten times the price of Shellder's. Pokémon Ultra Sun confirms its carnivorous diet.
