CARDEX BACKGROUND
Heracross travels through forests to find sweet sap and honey. Its antennae help it detect promising smells, while its claws grip bark. When defending its food or facing a rival, it slips beneath them and lifts them with its horn. The Pokédex credits it with strength capable of moving a mass far greater than its own. Its clumsy flight contrasts with this power on the ground and in trees.
Background on the species in the video games; its forms and card versions may have appeared later.Pokémon Ultra Sun describes rivalry between Heracross and Vikavolt over pride in their horns. Pokémon Ultra Moon adds a contrast: Heracross impresses with its strength, but flies rather poorly. Its most spectacular way of moving is therefore not necessarily flight.
