CARDEX BACKGROUND

The Pokémon’s story

Entei travels the world as an embodiment of magma’s fury. According to stories reported by the Pokédex, its birth accompanies a volcanic eruption and its roar heralds another somewhere on Earth. Its flames can burn whatever they touch to a cinder. These stories connect each of its movements with the unpredictable power of volcanoes, without turning its roars into a scientific record. Entei thus remains a legendary figure as much as a Fire-type Pokémon.

A detail worth noticing

Pokémon X reports a belief that an Entei is born whenever a volcano appears. Pokémon Y passes on another belief: its roar is said to coincide with an eruption somewhere. The Pokédex presents these connections as stories, without claiming that every eruption has been observed alongside an Entei.
