The Pokémon’s story

Shelgon stays hidden deep in caves, enclosed in a shell of bone-like material. Inside, its body transforms while it accumulates the energy needed for evolution. It can remain motionless and go without food for so long that some entries question how it survives. The Pokédex presents a being waiting, protected by a sturdy casing and focused on the day it can fly.

A detail worth noticing

Pokémon Ultra Sun describes cellular transformation inside Shelgon's shell. Pokémon Shield reports that evolution supposedly begins when its reserves are exhausted. The hunger and stillness observed in caves therefore accompany a change still surrounded by questions.
