CARDEX BACKGROUND

The Pokémon’s story

Sizzlipede stores flammable gas inside its body and uses it to generate heat. The yellow part of its abdomen becomes particularly hot. To hunt, it wraps its hot body around prey, then devours them once they are cooked. The Pokédex thus connects how it generates heat with how it feeds. Its abdomen is more than a patch of color: it reveals the area where the temperature can rise highest.

Background on the species in the video games; its forms and card versions may have appeared later.

A detail worth noticing

Sizzlipede's heat comes from flammable gas stored inside its body, according to Pokémon Sword. Pokémon Shield describes the next stage of the hunt: it squeezes prey against itself, cooks it and then eats it. Its method of capture therefore directly prepares its meal.
