The Pokémon’s story

Roggenrola hears sounds through a hexagonal opening that serves as its ear. An energy core lies at the bottom of this cavity and slightly warms its body. Discovered in a rock fissure, it bears material that the Pokédex connects with ground centuries old. Its hardness resembles steel, though prolonged immersion can soften it a little. Beneath a seemingly mineral, motionless form, Roggenrola listens and reacts to the faintest sound.

Pokémon Ultra Sun warns that putting a hand into Roggenrola's hexagonal ear irritates it, because its energy core is located there. Pokémon Shield specifies that this core makes it warm to the touch and that noise triggers its movements.
