The Pokémon’s story

In the laboratories described by the Pokédex, Mewtwo is born from years of experiments on Mew's genes. The result is far more than a simple copy: the entries describe an extremely violent temperament. Behind this artificial origin is a Pokémon shaped by the experiments that created it. Its story begins less in nature than in humanity's desire to recombine nature's secrets.

A detail worth noticing

Mewtwo's DNA is almost identical to Mew's, but Pokémon: Let's Go, Pikachu! points out how greatly their size and temperament differ. This contrast captures the unpredictable outcome of the experiments that created it. Genetic similarity does not make the two Pokémon, or their stories, interchangeable.
