CARDEX BACKGROUND

The Pokémon’s story

Spinarak waits patiently in its web for prey to touch it. Vibrations in the threads are said to let it recognize what has been caught; it is particularly fond of Cutiefly. Its silk is strong enough to hold a heavy stone, and some fishers collect it to make nets. Once an insect is trapped, the mild venom in its fangs is enough to immobilize it. The Pokédex thus connects its sense of touch, its hunting and human use of its threads.

Background on the species in the video games; its forms and card versions may have appeared later.

A detail worth noticing

Pokémon Ultra Sun says Spinarak's web can support a ten-kilogram stone. Pokémon Moon mentions fishers using this silk for their nets. A fiber designed to hold small prey therefore finds an unexpected use in fishing.
