CARDEX BACKGROUND

The Pokémon’s story

In the darkness of the ocean depths, Chinchou turns its antennae into a language of light. Their flashes let it communicate where visibility is poor. The same glow can attract prey, giving the signal a second function. Around this small Pokémon, light is never merely a backdrop: it serves to establish contact with its surroundings.

Background on the species in the video games; its forms and card versions may have appeared later.

A detail worth noticing

Pokémon Sword states that Chinchou’s antennae originated from a transformed fin. Positive and negative charges flow through them. Their unusual shape thus combines an anatomical origin with the electrical capability described for this Pokémon.
