CARDEX BACKGROUND
Psyduck’s vacant gaze conceals a persistent headache. When the pain becomes too strong, psychic power may burst out without its choosing to release it. Its apparent tranquillity is deceptive: this Pokémon endures a strain that others cannot see. Stress worsens its condition further, giving its sudden displays of power a far less triumphant meaning.
Background on the species in the video games; its forms and card versions may have appeared later. The Pokémon Sword entry adds a nuance to this painful cycle: after releasing its strange power, Psyduck appears to feel relief for a while. The wording remains cautious; it reports an observed effect without explaining its mechanism.
Quoted source text is retained in the card’s printed language so this exact printing can be identified. The CarDex background above is translated into English.
