CARDEX BACKGROUND

The Pokémon’s story

Loudred draws in air, then expels it using its abdominal muscles to unleash a powerful roar. Its round ears amplify the sound like speakers. The shock wave can sweep away an opponent and even damage a small wooden house. This power has a downside: after shouting, Loudred sometimes cannot hear for a while. The Pokédex describes a sonic weapon whose user also suffers its effects.

Background on the species in the video games; its forms and card versions may have appeared later.

A detail worth noticing

Pokémon Alpha Sapphire presents a surprising weakness of Loudred: it can temporarily lose its hearing after its own roar. Pokémon Sword attributes the cry's amplification to its ears. The organ making the attack devastating therefore does not protect it from the consequences.
