CARDEX BACKGROUND

The Pokémon’s story

Horsea hides near coral and feeds on small insects and moss found on stones. When the current becomes too strong, its tail grips a rock to hold it in place. Threatened, it releases an ink cloud that conceals its escape. Yet its accuracy does more than defend it: from the surface, it can hit a flying insect with a precise jet. The Pokédex describes an inhabitant of calm waters that knows how to use every support.

Background on the species in the video games; its forms and card versions may have appeared later.

A detail worth noticing

Pokémon Shield relates that Horsea creates whirlpools by dancing underwater, then compares their size with those of its companions. Pokémon X credits it with another skill: hitting a flying insect from the surface with a jet of ink.
