CARDEX BACKGROUND

The Pokémon’s story

Bellibolt generates electricity by expanding and contracting its flexible body. This movement operates an organ in its belly that the Pokédex compares to a dynamo. The spots that look like eyes are not used for seeing: they discharge the current made inside. Its round appearance and false eyes thus hide the energy's path. Electricity begins with movement in its belly before emerging through these visible organs on its body.

Background on the species in the video games; its forms and card versions may have appeared later.

A detail worth noticing

The two markings mistaken for Bellibolt's eyes are actually electrical organs, according to Pokémon Violet. Pokémon Scarlet locates electricity production in a belly dynamo driven by its body's contractions. Its apparent face can therefore mislead the observer.
