CARDEX BACKGROUND

The story behind this Trainer card

Thorton swaps a Basic Pokémon from your discard pile with one of your Basic Pokémon in play. The newcomer keeps attached cards, damage counters, Special Conditions, turns in play, and other effects. The replacement changes the Pokémon without wiping away its situation. It is not a way to automatically heal the replaced teammate or begin with an entirely fresh presence.

Background on this Trainer card’s printed effect; its edition, language and finish remain distinct.

A detail worth noticing

Thorton's text explicitly preserves much more than Energy: it also mentions damage, Special Conditions, and turns in play. Both Pokémon exchanged must be Basic, with one coming from the discard pile and the other from the field.
