CARDEX BACKGROUND

The Pokémon’s story

Togepi turns happy emotions into a resource. The compassion and joy it receives fuel its energy; it then stores this happiness in its shell to share. Its smile takes on another meaning in light of this story. Beneath the appearance of a little moving egg, it embodies an exchange in which care given can return to others.

Background on the species in the video games; its forms and card versions may have appeared later.

A detail worth noticing

A proverb reported in Pokémon Silver promises happiness to anyone who can make a sleeping Togepi stand up. Here the Pokédex conveys a tradition of the Pokémon world, rather than a proven property of its shell or an evolution technique.

Attacks

Yawn

Cost: Colorless

The Defending Pokémon is now Asleep.

Mini-Metronome

Cost: Colorless · Colorless

Flip a coin. If heads, choose 1 of the Defending Pokémon's attacks. Mini-Metronome copies that attack except for its Energy cost. (You must still do anything else required for that attack.) (No matter what type that Pokémon is, Togepi's type is still Colorless.) Togepi performs that attack."
