CARDEX BACKGROUND

The Pokémon’s story

In Parasect, the large mushroom on its back has taken control of the insect carrying it. It releases spores to defend itself and seek further resources. The Pokédex describes the host as almost lifeless, so completely does the mushroom now direct its movements. Removing it would leave Parasect unable to move. This unsettling partnership does not prevent humans from collecting the spores for certain traditional remedies. Parasect therefore lives under the control of an organism that other species use for their own purposes.

Background on the species in the video games; its forms and card versions may have appeared later.

A detail worth noticing

Pokémon Ultra Sun says Parasect can no longer move if the mushroom is removed from its back. Pokémon Moon mentions remedies made from its spores. The material humans seek therefore belongs to the organism controlling the Pokémon.
