CARDEX BACKGROUND

The Pokémon’s story

Kirlia responds to its Trainer’s emotions. When it senses their joy, it brims with energy and starts dancing in circles. Its horns amplify its telekinetic powers; when it uses them, the air may distort into mirages of nonexistent landscapes. The Pokédex even credits it with glimpsing the future by distorting space-time. Its visible, almost light-hearted behaviour thus accompanies psychic abilities that witnesses do not always understand.

Background on the species in the video games; its forms and card versions may have appeared later.

A detail worth noticing

Pokémon Alpha Sapphire links the mirages around Kirlia to air distorted by its powers. These landscapes that seem to appear from nowhere are not newly discovered places: the entry presents them as an effect of its telekinesis, amplified by its horns.
