CARDEX BACKGROUND
Phantump is said to come to life when a soul inhabits a stump deep in the forest. It imitates a child's voice to lure adults among the trees; some entries suggest it may mainly be trying to make friends. A tradition credits the leaves on its branches with extraordinary virtues, without providing evidence. The Pokédex thus mixes a reported origin, genuinely unsettling cries and possible loneliness behind the trick.
Background on the species in the video games; its forms and card versions may have appeared later.Pokémon Ultra Sun presents Phantump's imitated children's voices as an attempt to make friends. Pokémon Moon reports a belief about its leaves prepared as an infusion. These accounts prove no medicinal property; they mainly show the Pokémon's place in forest stories.
