CARDEX BACKGROUND

The Pokémon’s story

Rolycoly has a body whose composition resembles coal. It was discovered in mines about four centuries ago, a setting well suited to this dark material. Despite its stony appearance, it can roll very quickly like a single wheel, even along rough paths. The coal it burns supplies the energy needed to keep moving. Its life thus combines a past connected with miners and surprising movement across rocky terrain.

Background on the species in the video games; its forms and card versions may have appeared later.

A detail worth noticing

Pokémon Sword places Rolycoly's first discovery in coal mines about 400 years ago. Pokémon Shield specifies that it travels like a unicycle over rocks and that burning coal maintains its energy.
