CARDEX BACKGROUND
Sigilyph flies over the desert along a route that seems unchanging. Traditions present it as the protector of an ancient city, able to repel invaders with psychic powers; others call it that city’s messenger. Excavations beneath its route have revealed remains consistent with this story, without resolving all its mysteries. Its silent flight thus preserves a possible trace of a vanished place, between inherited memory and archaeological discovery.
Background on the species in the video games; its forms and card versions may have appeared later.Pokémon Shield reports the discovery of ruins beneath the desert that Sigilyph crosses. Pokémon Sword distinguishes two traditions: guardian of the ancient city or its messenger. The ruins support the place’s existence without settling the Pokémon’s exact role.
Quoted source text is retained in the card’s printed language so this exact printing can be identified. The CarDex background above is translated into English.
